WearMaster Carbide Counter Knives
18.11.2010 | Download | CHH Whangarei leads successful trial
Since we advertised the WearMaster Carbide Counter Knife in August of this year, CHH Woodproducts Whangarei have been trialling these with outstanding results. See the testimonial below.
“CHH Woodproducts Whangarei fitted the full length TCT counter knives to our 58” Morbark wood chipper in August 2010 in a bid to gain a longer run times between servicing and consistency in chip quality for our customers.
Standard quality counter knives were being replaced after 176hrs/16 shifts. In this period the chip quality would fluctuate up to 7% in a negative trend. Wear of up to 5mm being recorded. This wear made it impossible for the knives to be reground or re-used.
The TCT counter knives were removed from service after 704hrs/64 shifts with 2mm of wear recorded.
Chip Quality remained consistent +/- 2%
The TCT counter knives were re-ground and are still within tolerance to produce consistent chip length and size.
Northland has one of the most harsh logging environments in New Zealand, Radiata is grown in all conditions from sand in the Far North, volcanic and clays inland Northland.
The TCT Counter knives have exceeded all of our expectations and more.
I strongly recommend this product to enhance any sawmills productivity and return on investment.
