Investment Ensures First Class Service
07.07.2008 | Thode Knife & Saw Ltd recently commisioned its latest machinery acquisition, a Vollmer Circular Saw Service Center. This includes the latest Vollmer CHD270 CNC Top & Face sharpening machine coupled with a ND340 four-station robotic station, allowing fully automatic machining for up to 150 tungsten carbide sawblades.
"The installation of this in our Auckland circular saw manuracturing and servicing plant has allowed Thode to install our second robotic service center in our Healesville branch in Victoria. This addition will see Thode able to offer the highest quality of sharpening with a quick turnaround from this operation" said Thode cheif executive officer Jim Hoyle.
James Ledingham, operations and contracts manager for Thode's Healesville plant, is very familiar with this type of machine having operated a similar one at Hyne & Son in Tumbarumba. "The fully flooded oil coolant system in the grinder ensures a quality sharpen that is second to none" Ledingham said.
In March we also installed a new Iseli SAA Fully Automatic Stellite Tipping Machine at Healesville. This was the machine that we displayed at AUSTimber08 in Mt Gambier" he said
"As stellite tipping has become more accepted in the Australian sawmilling industry, and with the recent growth we have experienced, it was seen as necessary to automate this operation,: Ledingham said.
