ST1 Super Coated Knife Steel
ST1 is a super coated T1 knife steel developed solely by Kanefusa in Japan. The coating on one face of the steel provides wear resistance of 3 -5 times that of the parent material. The super coating does not comprimise the ability of the machinist to grind or joint the steel. The wear charactereristics of the ST1 steel is such that the parent material wears first and in effect creates a self sharpening edge. This means that the knife steel can remain effective on the machine for longer runs. Longer runs means less downtime due to steel changes and results in higher throughput per shift. ST1 has been tested by the TITC in New Zealand and has shown a marked reduction in wear over other steel types when run on laminated materials. Available in full bars, or cut to your specific requirements, ST1 can be purchased plain back or serrated back from 3mm to 8mm thick. Larger thicknesses are available by special request.
Tungsten Carbide Inlay
Inlay Carbide knife steel is an excellent option where super hard knife steel is required. TCT is particularly effective where glue lines are an issue. Tungsten inlay knives are being successfully used in New Zealand in running exotic hardwoods such as Kwila, Balau, Tauna and Teak. Available in full bars, or cut to your specific requirements, Tungsten carbide inlay knife steel can be purchased plain back or serrated back from 4mm to 8mm thick.
